12 Injured when Van Overturns on I-95

South Carolina (October 24, 2011)  A passenger van overturned on I-95 South sending 12 people to the hospital.  According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol the accident occurred around 3 p.m., between Exit 38-Yemassee and Exit 33-Pocotaligo, when a passenger rolled over in the southbound lanes, coming to rest on the right grass median.  Several people were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

Hampton County EMS and several surrounding fire departments responded to the wreck.
12 people were injured, including two children.  The injured have been transported to Colleton Medical Center.

All lanes of I-95 south have been shutdown as crews work the wreckage site causing traffic to back up for miles.  Authorities are urging travelers to avoid I-95 south.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the cause of the accident.
