Small Plane makes emergency landing near I-95

Florida   (December 3,2011)   At around 10 p.m. on Saturday night, a 2004 Cirrus SR20 plane had to make an emergency landing on the eastbound lanes of I-295 south.

The emergency landing was due to engine trouble, according to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Dennis Smith.  The plane was flown by Matthew David Rowe of North Carolina, and a passenger, Sean Kristopher Carlisis of Utah. Neither sustained any injuries.

The plane was traveling from Orlando Sanford International Airport to Craig Airport.

The FHP and Jacksonville Sheriff’s office pushed the  single-engine plane onto the side of the road.  Unfortunately, a pickup truck clipped the side of the plane near its left wing, but failed to stop.

Both incidents currently remain under investigation.
