Bicyclist Killed by Drunk Driver

Pennsylvania (November 18, 2011)  A drunk driver struck and killed a bicyclist Friday evening in Philadelphia after being released from jail earlier in the morning on a drunk driving charge the previous day.  The driver, Brett Truskin was arrested for drunk driving on I-95 on November 17, 2011.

According to the Philadelphia Police, Gregory Loper, 49 was riding his bicycle on East Lehigh Street when Truskin, driving a 2011 Toyota Rav4, slammed into him head-on.  Truskin then crashed into four parked vehicles before finally striking another vehicle, injuring the driver.  Brett Truskin then tried to flee the scene of the accident but was detained by a witness until Philadelphia Police got to the scene.

Gregory Loper was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Brett Truskin, 22 faces charges of DUI and involuntary manslaughter in the fatal accident.
