Boat Dislodged From Trailer in Crash on I-95

Florida (July 24,2011)  According to the Virginia State Police a crash around 3 p.m. involving two vehicles on Interstate 95 north caused major delays for travelers.

The accident happened about a mile past Exit 54/Route 144 in Colonial Heights when an Acura, driven by Scott B. Nardi, drifted out of his lane and struck a GMC Sierra pickup truck that was towing a boat.

The collision caused both vehicles to strike the concrete center barrier, dislodging the boat from the trailer.  The boat came to rest in the right northbound lane of I-95.

The driver of the pickup truck, Danny Lamie, was injured and transported to Chippenham Medical Center.  Nardi and the passengers in the Acura were not injured.

The right and left lanes were closed as the Virginia State Police completed an accident investigation.  All lanes of Interstate 95 were reopened around 4:30 p.m.

Virginia State Police believe fatigue was a factor in the crash and have charged Nardi with reckless driving.
