Boat Trailer Overturns on I-95

Connecticut (November 4, 2011)  A boat trailer overturned on I-95 north around 1:20 this afternoon blocking the Interstate for over three hours in Milford.  A pickup truck was towing the boat on Interstate 95 when the trailer overturned causing the 35 foot boat to dislodge from the trailer.  The boat came to rest on its side, blocking the right two lanes of I-95 north under the Quarry Road overpass near Exit 41.  The boat was leaking diesel fuel onto the Interstate.

Connecticut State Police and the Milford Fire Department responded to the scene and closed I-95 north. Traffic was backed up for several miles.

Crews were working to clean up the fuel spill and get the boat out from the underpass so it could be towed from the scene.

Authorities were able to re-open I-95 around 5 p.m.

No one was injured in the accident.
