Chain Reaction Pile up

New Hampshire (October 27, 2011)  Five people were injured in a rear-end accident at the on ramp to I-95 and Route 33.  The New Hampshire State Police and Portsmouth Police, along with the Portsmouth Fire department responded to the three car pile up around 11 a.m.

A woman, operating a Chevy Lumina, slammed into the rear of a Ford van, driven by Tracy Gilbert, which was stopped at the intersection for I-95.  The force of the impact dislodged the ladders that were on the roof and sent his vehicle forward into the rear of a Chevy HHR.  The Chevy Lumina sustained extensive damage to the front end causing the airbags to deploy.

The female driver of the Lumina suffered head injuries and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.  Three people in the Chevy HHR were also injured and taken to the hospital.  The driver of the Ford, Tracy Gilbert, was also injured.

A dog, in the Chevy Lumina, was injured and taken to the Veterinarian.

The New Hampshire State Police are investigating this accident and trying to determine if alcohol was a factor.
