Commuter Bus Accident in Virginia, eight passengers suffer minor injuries

Virginia (April 4,2012)  Eight passengers suffered minor injuries in a commuter bus accident on I-95 North in Prince William County.  The accident occurred at around 5:20 a.m. on Interstate 95 north near Exit 152A (Dumfries)/ SR 234 according to Virginia State Police.

The commuter bus, owned by LW Transportation, was headed to Fort Belvoir and was traveling northbound on I-95. According to the driver of the bus, a vehicle cut into the travel lane of the bus braking for traffic.  As a result the bus driver swerved to avoid the vehicle causing the bus to veer off the right side of the road, hitting the guardrail and landing in a three-foot ditch.

The bus driver was not injured and he was wearing his seat belt.  None of the eight injured passengers required to be taken to a hospital.  All suffered minor injuries.

At about 7 a.m. the accident was cleared but is still under investigation.

The vehicle that swerved in front of the bus did not stop.
