Dead Body Discovered on Tractor-Trailer On I-95 south

Virginia (October 25, 2011)  Police stopped a Tractor-trailer on I-95 south after a body was reported on the top of the trailer.  Around 3 p.m. Virginia State police pulled over a tractor-trailer in the HOV lanes near Exit 166-Fairfax County Parkway after receiving a call that a body was spotted on the top of the trailer in Maryland.

Maryland State Police and the Fire department also responded to the scene where they discovered the corpse on top of the trailer.   The fire department used the bucket lift to gain access to the top of the trailer as police processed the evidence.

Authorities believe the person may have jumped from an overpass in Maryland, landing on the roof of the tractor-trailer.

The Virginia State Police are still investigating the fatality.  No information has been released regarding the deceased.

Update: Virginia State Police have identified the body found on the top of a tractor-trailer as Jeffrey Matheny,38 of Gaithersburg, Md.  The medical examiner has determined the death was a suicide.

A Motorist had called Police stating they were traveling behind the tractor-trailer when victim jumped from the overpass at the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.  The witness was able to provide a description of the truck, which State Police were able to pull over some 11 miles later.
