Driver Airlifted After Crash

Massachusetts (October 26, 2011)  A driver was airlifted after a two vehicle crash on I-95 / Route 128 late Wednesday afternoon.  According to the Massachusetts State Police the crash occurred just after 4 p.m. south of Exit 19A in Needham.  The male driver was traveling south on Route 128, when he suffered some type of medical incident, causing him to lose control of his car and crash with another vehicle.

The male driver’s medical condition required authorities to request a medical helicopter.  The driver of the other vehicle was also injured and transported by ambulance. Traffic was brought to a stand still as Massachusetts State Police closed the Interstate in both directions to allow the medical helicopter to land.

All lanes were re-opened by 5:20 but not before traffic had backed up for several miles.

The Massachusetts State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
