Driver Airlifted After Crashing on I-95

Connecticut (April, 1, 2012) A woman was seriously injured in a crash on I-95 north in Waterford.  The accident occurred just before 10:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Exit 82-Broad St, according to the Connecticut State Police.

Janice Wray,20, was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry north on Interstate 95 when her vehicle skidded off the Interstate slamming into a light pole.  The force of the impact caused the vehicle to overturn.  Wray sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Yale-New Haven hospital.

Authorities were forced to close I-95 as they investigated the scene and to allow the helicopter to land.

Police state that Wray was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, but the airbags did not deploy.

The Connecticut State Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
