Driver Killed in Rear-end Collision on I-95 south

Florida (November 26, 2011)  A driver was killed when his car was rear-ended early this morning in Boynton Beach.  The fatal accident occurred at 4:23 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Exit 56-Woolbright Road.

Brian Newcomer was traveling southbound with a passenger, Jessica A. Janik, in a 2009 Honda Accord, when his vehicle became disabled and stopped in the center lanes.   Newcomer had called for assistance when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2008 Suzuki SX4 driven by Jeffrey Kreiling, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brian Newcomer, 27, died at the scene.  Jeffrey Kreiling and Jessica A. Janik, 27, were seriously injured and transported to Delray Medical Center.

Authorities closed several southbound lanes as they investigated the accident site, causing traffic to back up for over a mile.  All lanes should be re-opened around 9:00 a.m.

The fatal accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No charges have been filed at this time.
