Drunken Driver Leads Police on Chase

New Jersey (November 7, 2011)  New Jersey State Police arrested a driver after he crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike in Middlesex County.  State Police had received a report around 7:00 p.m. of an erratic driver by motorist on the northbound Turnpike near exit 8.  A trooper spotted the vehicle several miles later, the vehicle was observed striking the concrete divider several times according to the New Jersey State Police.

State Police tried to pull over the driver, Glenn Magnusson, but he refused to stop.  Police continued the pursuit for several more miles as they approached the car and truck lane split at Exit 8A.  Magnusson lost control of his vehicle and plowed into the guard rail when he attempted to swerve from the outer lanes to the inner car only lanes.

Magnusson sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

New Jersey State Police arrested Glenn Magnusson, 53, and have charged him with eluding police and drunken driving.  Magnusson also had outstanding warrants for his arrest in Monmouth County and in Gloucester County.  Glenn Magnusson is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
