Maine (December 31, 2011) A grandmother was killed when the car she was a passenger in slid off I-95 in Edinburg. The accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. at mile marker 214, three miles south of Exit 217-State Road 155 according to the Maine State Police.
The driver Xiao Lin Deng, 40, of Nova Scotia was traveling north on I-95 in a 2009 Nissan with three passengers in the left hand lane when she hit an icy patch. Deng lost control of the vehicle and slid off the left side of Interstate 95 into the center median, striking a tree.
Deng’s mother, Aizhi Gao, 63, was killed in the wreck. Deng and the other two passengers, her 11 year-old daughter and father, Lun Shi Deng, were not injured.
Maine State Police are still investigating the accident.
