Fatal I-95 Car Accident in Amesbury, MA.

Massachusetts, January 31, 2011 – Shortly after 10:15 p.m. 64-year-old Charles Moncousky died when his car drove off the Whittier Bridge on the Amesbury, MA section of I-95.

According to police reports, Moncousky’s 2002 Toyota Camry plummeted approximately 100 feet into frigid waters of the Merrimack River.  Approximately three hours after the accident Massachusetts State Police divers were able to located the deceased, still inside his car, 20 feet below the surface.

car accident amesbury massachusettsUnrelated to the recent fatality, the Whittier Bridge is scheduled to undergo a $285 million improvement project in Spring 2012. According to the Massachusetts’ state government website, Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will “bring the Whittier Bridge up to current safety standards” that will “accommodate the traffic flow along Interstate 95.”
