Fatal Rear-end Accident on I-95

Florida (November 16, 2011)  A man was killed in a violent rear-end collision with a tractor-trailer on I-95 south in Flagler County.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol the fatal crash happened around 9:20 p.m. between Exit 298-U.S.1 and Exit 289-Palm Coast Parkway, at mile marker 294.

A tractor-trailer, driven by Roberto Ramirez, was traveling south on Interstate 95 in the right hand lane when a Nissan 350-Z smashed into the rear of the truck.  David Anthony Adorante, the driver of the Nissan 350-Z  was traveling at a high rate of speed when for an unknown reason rear-ended the semi.

The force of the impact caused the Nissan 350-Z to rollover several times, littering the Interstate with debris from the crash.  The Nissan 350-Z came to rest between the center and right lanes of I-95 facing north.  The crash was so severe the engine was dislodged from the Nissan 350-Z, lying in the middle of the roadway.  The tractor-trailer sustained extensive damage to the rear wheels and axle.

David Anthony Adorante, 50 was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Roberto Ramirez was not injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol and Palm Coast Fire Department responded to the accident site.  Authorities were forced to close Interstate 95 south for several hours as they investigated the accident scene.
