Fatal rollover accident in Attleboro

Massachusetts (August 9, 2011)  According to the Massachusetts State Police a Mattapan man was killed on I-95 south after his vehicle overturned and struck a guardrail.  The accident occurred around 1 a.m. between Exits 2 and 3 in Attleboro.  The driver,  Jean Charles, was traveling south on I-95 in a 1997 Honda Accord when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

The vehicle came to rest upside down on top of the left metal guardrail, trapping the man in the vehicle.  It took close to an hour for rescue crews to cut Charles, out of the Honda.  Due to the weather a medical helicopter was unable to fly and the victim was transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital.  Charles, 34,  was later pronounced dead at the hospital from his injuries.

Authorities shut down two lanes of I-95 as Massachusetts State Police investigated the crash and the debris was cleared.  The State Police are still investigating the cause of the fatal accident.
