Two Teenagers die on I-95 in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Florida

Florida (July 27, 2012)  Two teenagers were killed in an accident overnight on Interstate 95 in Volusia County.  The crash occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95 near Exit 268, SR 40 (Tomoka Road) – Ocala, Ormond Beach, according to FHP.

Lane Burnsed, a 19-year-old male, was driving a Ford F150 pickup truck in the left lane when the crash occurred.  Three vehicles were involved in the accident causing serious injuries to several people and two fatalities.  Meredith Smith, a 17-year-old female, was a passenger in the F-150 and died at the scene.  Tuesday Coulter, a 20-year-old female, was also a passenger in the truck and was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center with serious injuries.  The driver, Lane Burnsed, later died at Halifax Hospital moments after his father came to his bedside.

The drivers of the other two vehicles involved in the crash sustained serious injuries.  Louis Nicholas Prinzo, the driver of a 1996 Ford and Doron Nirel Lyn, the driver of a Chevy Blazer, were taken to Halifax Health Medical Center.

The southbound lanes were reopened close to 5:00 a.m. after being closed for six hours.
All victims, except for Lane Burnsed, were not wearing their seatbelts.

The accident is under investigation.
