Maryland (August 9,2012) A female pedestrian was killed in a crash on I-95 in Harford County. The accident occurred on Thursday night around 8:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 just north of Exit 85-MD 22 (Aberdeen Thruway) –,according to Maryland State Police.
The pedestrian was struck in the fast lane of traffic and died at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the Dodge Van,Paththini Wickramarathne of Long Beach, California. who struck the victim was questioned by authorities.
The accident is under investigation.
Update: Investigation reveals the pedestrian,Christine Elizabeth Eldin, stepped into the traffic as an act of suicide according to Maryland State Police. Her Volvo was found parked on the left shoulder of I-95 North with letters in the vehicle suggesting her intent to commit suicide. Eldin was a 46-year-old from West Friendship Maryland.
