Hurricane Irene advisory issued for I-95 in Virginia

Virginia (August 27, 2011)  According to the Virginia Department of Transportation due to the current weather conditions a Hurricane advisory has been posted for I-95 in Prince William County at mile marker 155.8 (Exit 156-Dale City) and for Spotsylvania County at mile marker 119 (Exit 118-Route 606)

Several accidents have been reported on I-95 in Virginia.

  • A tractor-trailer accident on I-95 south closed the right lane and shoulder in Caroline county near Exit 104-Route 207 around 1:30 p.m.
  • A vehicle accident near Exit 136-Route 627 at 5 p.m. has closed the shoulder for the southbound lanes of I-95 in Stafford County.
  • A vehicle accident in Spotsylvania County at 5:21 closed the southbound shoulder of I-95.

Authorities have closed Exit 51-Interstate 85 south on Interstate 95 in the city of Petersburg because of down trees on I-85.
