Man Killed After Three Trucks Collide on I-495

Delaware (September 30, 2011)  One man is dead after 3 trucks crashed on I-495 in Delaware.  According to the Delaware State police the accident occurred around 4 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-495.

Edwin W. Trill Jr., 32, was driving a Box truck that slammed into the rear of a tractor-trailer, which then crashed into a second tractor-trailer near Exit 4. Rescue crews worked for 45 minutes to free Trill from the heavily damaged box truck.  Edwin W. Trill Jr. was air lifted to Christiana Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Alvin Flaud, was also injured and transported to Christiana Hospital.

Authorities Closed all northbound lanes of I-495 as rescue crews worked the accident scene.  Traffic was diverted off I-495 at Edgemoor Road, police are asking motorist to avoid the area.

Around 8 a.m all lanes of I-495 had been re-opened.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of this fatal accident.
