Moose Struck on I-95 in Maine

Maine (June 23, 2011) A Nissan XTerra heading south on Interstate 95 struck and killed a moose around 9 p.m. on Thursday.  The impact caused the vehicle to face oncoming traffic, with extensive front-end damage. 

A traveling nurse, Cynthia Deveau, stopped at the scene to offer aid and set up emergency cones.  The driver had minor injuries. There were two additional passengers in the XTerra; the driver’s wife and grandchild.  All three were transported to Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. 

A tractor-trailer passing the scene then struck a small female moose, there was no damage to the tractor-trailer.  The second moose was also killed.
