Motorcycle rear-ends Car on I-95

Delaware (September 16, 2011)  A motorcyclist was seriously injured after crashing into the rear of a vehicle on I-95 near Exit 4B in Christiana.  According to the Delaware State Police, William Vanover was traveling south on I-95 around 8:30 p.m. when he rear-ended a Kia Soul.  Vanover was tossed from the bike, landing in the southbound lane of Interstate 95.

William Vanover was rushed to the hospital where he is in critical condition.  Vanover was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The operator of the Kia Sou,  Scott Residence, was not injured.

Authorities closed the right two lane of I-95 as they investigated the incident.

All lanes were re-opened around 11:30 p.m.

  1. My daughter and I witnessed this accident happen and it was horrific. We called 911 and comforted Mr. Vanover until emergency crews responded. Why someone would ride a motorcycle and not wear a helmet is nothing but a death wish…..

    I pray for Mr. Vanover and his family and hope he is able to recover….
