Motorcycle Wreck Injures Officer near I-95

Florida (November 23, 2011)  A West Palm Beach police officer was seriously injured when his motorcycle was struck by a car.  The officer was pursuing a speeding Honda near I-95.  The crash happened just after noon, near Congress Avenue and Embassy Drive. 

The officer, Keith Gorski, was attempting to stop a red Honda on when he was struck by another vehicle.  Officer Gorski’s motorcycle came to rest off the west side of North Congress Avenue in the grass by the canal.  The striking vehicle sustained extensive damage to the front end.

Keith Gorski was seriously injured and rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital, which was only three miles away.

Authorities have stated that Officer Gorski is in stable condition, with several broken bones which will require surgery. Gorski has a wife and two young children and has been a member of the West Palm Beach Police Department for over ten years.

Authorities are trying to locate the red Honda that fled the scene.  Police believe the red Honda has a Florida license tag containing the letters “ALS.”  If you have any information regarding the accident, please contact the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office at 561-688-3838.

Update: The driver of the vehicle that struck Officer Gorski, Marie Nonsant, 65, sustained minor injuries.

Officer Gorski is recovering at St. Mary’s Hospital with several broken vertebrae and a shattered right foot.  He is currently in a medically induced coma.
