Florida (December 3, 2011)   A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a guardrail on the I-295 onramp in Jacksonville.  The fatal accident happened at 2:12 p.m. on the ramp heading northbound, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

William Edward Robbins, 73, was driving his 2002 Harley-Davidson east on I-10.  He was attempting to go north on Exit 21, when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck the guardrail.  Robbins was ejected from the bike and went over the guardrail.  He slid down a concrete embankment, landing below on the shoulder of the road.  The unoccupied Harley-Davidson continued traveling on the ramp before finally slamming into the concrete jersey wall.

A resident of Jacksonville, he suffered critical injuries and was transported to Shands Jacksonville Hospital.  Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m.
