Motorcyclist Killed on I-595

Florida (December 9, 2011)  A motorcyclist was killed after crashing his motorcycle on I-595 in Broward County.  The fatal accident occurred at 3:45 a.m. on I-595 west near Flamingo Road according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Edwin G. Stracke, 30, of Pembroke Pines, FL., was traveling westbound on I-595 when he lost control of his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle.  The motorcycle went down, ejecting Stracke onto the westbound lanes of I-595.  A 2009 Honda Civic also traveling westbound on I-595 struck Stracke.

Edwin G. Stracke was pronounced dead at the scene.  Stracke was wearing a helmet at the time of the fatal crash according to the FHP.

The driver of the Civic, Omar Robles sustained injuries and was taken to Memorial West Hospital.

Authorities closed I-595 west for over four hours as they investigated the fatal accident.

The Florida Highway Patrol is asking if anyone witness the crash or what caused the motorcycle to lose control to please contact them at 954-837-4012.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church

The Boyd-Panciera Douglas Rd. Chapel will host a visitation on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, from 4:00-7:00 pm.
