Delaware (October 17, 2012) Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in Newark Delaware. The crash occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. in both the south and northbound lanes of I-95 near Exit 1- DE 896 to US 301 – according to Delaware State Police.
Margery Szczepanski was driving a 2007 Honda Civic in the center lane of I-95 South when she attempted to change lanes and struck the rear of a 2000 Jeep Cherokee SUV. The impact caused the SUV to cross over all southbound lanes and the median into the lanes of I-95 North. As a result the SUV crashed head-on into a 2012 Subaru Legacy.
Both drivers of the SUV and Subaru were taken to Christiana Hospital. The driver of the SUV , a 24-year-old man, is in critical condition with head injuries. The driver of the Subaru, a 20-year-old female, is in stable condition.
Szczepanski, a 58-year-old female from New York City, was not injured.
The accident is under investigation.
