One Dead and One Injured in Hit and Run Accident on I-95

Florida (September 17, 2011)  One brother was killed and the other seriously injured when their pickup truck was rear-ended on I-95.  The fatal crash occurred around 5:15 a.m. in the northbound lane at Exit 64-10th Avenue North.

The driver, Javier Castiblanco-Vargas, was on his way home from work with his brother, Hector Castiblanco, when their vehicle was rear-ended by an unknown white vehicle.  The pickup truck, went through the grass median and struck a sign pole, causing the vehicle to overturn.  The striking vehicle did not stop at the accident scene.

Javier Castiblanco-Vargus was killed in the crash, his brother Hector Castiblanco was transported by helicopter to Delray Medical Center.  Both occupants were wearing seat belts.

Authorities closed the right lane of I-95 north and the left lane on the exit ramp of 10th Avenue North as they worked the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol believe the striking vehicle is a white vehicle and will have left front end damage.  If you have any information regarding this accident please contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
