Overturned Tractor-trailer crash Kills Driver

South Carolina (November 29, 2011)  A driver was killed when his tractor-trailer overturned in Jasper County. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred at 10:15 on Interstate 95 near Exit 21-Ridgeland.

The tractor-trailer, loaded with orange juice, went off the side of the roadway and slammed into several large pine trees, causing the vehicle to overturn and dump its cargo.

The unidentified male driver was “killed instantly,” according to Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls.  The coroner is awaiting dental records to positively identify the driver.

  1. Yeah my sister and I were driving back up to NJ, from southern Florida, when there was about an hour hold up on 95 to get only 1 mile. When we seen why, it broke my heart. I knew no driver could survive that. I was probably the worst accident I’ve ever seen. My prayers go out to the family.

  2. RIP Charlie you were very loved and we will all miss you very much.

The only reason I even know of this is because of my father, who is a truck driver himself. He called me, as he usually does, and mentioned seeing this, saying it was like nothing he had ever before seen, also mentioning that he thought he had seen the involved truck leaving a rest area earlier. All I can say is my heart is hurting for anyone and everyone who knew this man. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain, knowing how difficult it is for even an “outsider”. Sending my deepest, most heartfelt condolences all the way from Ohio. May strength and comfort find you all. And to the victim, may you REST IN PEACE-

  5. Im a driver too i saw this accident within minutes of it happening. This was the worst wreck ive ever seen.I felt so bad for the driver and what his family and friends were about to go through.Rest in peace

  6. Charlie you will be greatly missed and I will pray for your son, daughters and family. It saddens me deeply to hear of this as I know the family very well. Charlie’s son is like a brother to my son. My thoughts and prayers go all to all of the family as they mourn the loss of their father. He was a very kind and generous man and always made sure his family was taken care of. Please say a prayer for his family as they deal with their loss.

  7. So saddened when I heard about this accident. Charlie was a good friend of my Dad, they worked together for many years, driving out of Orlando. He will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
