PA Man Killed on I-95 Ramp Near Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE (May 7, 2011) – Police believe that extreme speed may be behind a recent fatality on I-95 in Delaware. Emergency crews were called to the scene, which turned out to be a one-car fatality involving a 2005 BMW.

43-year-old West Grove, PA resident, Steven Yoder, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. A 35-year-old passenger in Yoder’s vehicle, also from West Grove, was taken to Christiana Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.

Yoder, traveling on Rte. 202 entered onto I-95’s southbound on ramp, allegedly at high rate of speed, when he lost control of the BMW. The vehicle crashed into a tree on the driver’s side, spun clockwise before coming to a rest. Delaware State Police are investigating, but suspect that speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the accident.
