Passenger Killed in crash with Tractor-trailer on I-95

Connecticut (October 6, 2011) A driver was injured and her passenger was killed in an early morning crash on I-95 in East Lyme.  According to the Connecticut State Police the accident occurred around 4:20 a.m. on I-95 north near Exit 76 when a vehicle slammed into the rear of a tractor-trailer.

Lisa Grzywacz was traveling north in a 2000 Chevrolet Prism with her passenger, Roger Clifford, when the vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer that was on the right shoulder.

19 year-old Lisa Grzywacz and 25 year-old Roger Clifford were transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.  Roger Clifford died from his injuries.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Lafayette Murray was not injured.

Authorities closed one lane of I-95 as they worked the accident scene.  Traffic was backed up for several miles during the early morning.  All lanes were re-opened around 9:30 a.m.

The Connecticut State Police is investigating this fatal accident.
