Passenger Killed in I-95 Rollover (Update)

South Carolina (September 11,2011) According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, Ludvin Jonathan Andrez-Gonazlez, was driving on I-95 south when he fell asleep behind the wheel ultimately killing one passenger.

Andrez-Gonazlez was driving in a 1999 Ford Expedition when he allegedly fell asleep and veered off of the right side of the road, resulting in the vehicle to rollover and ejecting Ernesto Santiz Lopez. The South Carolina Highway Patrol states there were a total of eight passengers in the Expedition.  The accident happened near exit 28 in Jasper County.

The driver then left the scene of the accident and was later found by the K-9 unit and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s office four hours later.

The passenger, Ernesto Santiz Lopez, was transported to Coastal Carolina Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Both the driver and the passenger were not wearing their seat belts.  The driver, Andrez-Gonazlez, has been arrested and charged with leaving the scene involving a death.
