Pedestrian Fatality on I-95 North

Pennsylvania (October 24, 2011)  A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on I-95 north late Monday.  According to the Pennsylvania State Police the accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. between Exit 23-Girard Avenue and Exit 25- Allegheny Avenue.  The pedestrian had crossed the southbound lanes of I-95 and jumped the center concrete barrier into the northbound lanes where he was struck by a Ford Escape, driven by Scott McLane.

The impact caused severe damage to the front of the vehicle, windshield and roof.  Scott McLane, an off-duty Philadelphia Police officer was injured and transported to Hahnemann Hospital.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the fatal accident.  No charges have been filed
