Pedestrian Fatality on I-95

North Carolina (November 5, 2011)  A pedestrian was struck and killed on I-95 north in Johnston County.  The victim, Stacey Hamilton Stanley was walking on I-95 north around 10:20 p.m. when she was hit by a 2002 Toyota. 

The driver, William Earl Floyd was traveling north on I-95 near Exit 93-Brogden Road where he struck the victim who was in the travel lane of Interstate 95.  The impact threw Stanley onto the roadway, the vehicle sustained damage to the passenger side front fender and windshield, as it traveled off to the right shoulder of I-95 .

Stacey Hamilton Stanley, 39, died as a result of her injuries.
The driver, William Earl Floyd, and his three passengers were not injured.

Interstate 95 south was closed while the North Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the fatal accident.  Police are trying to determine why Stanley was walking on the interstate.

The driver of the striking vehicle will not be charged.
