Pickup truck overturns on I-95

Delaware (January 1, 2012)  A driver and three passengers were injured when a pickup truck overturned on I-95 in Wilmington.  The crash occurred at 9:18 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Exit 9- Marsh Road according to Sergeant Paul G. Shavack of the Delaware State Police.

The driver, a 47 year-old male, was operating a 1997 Suzuki Pickup truck on I-95 south when he attempted to brake for traffic and lost control of the vehicle of the wet roadway.  The Suzuki traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck the metal guardrail, overturned coming to rest on the passenger side in the center median.

Two of the occupants sustained minor injuries and were able to get out of the wrecked vehicle on their own.  Rescue crews had to be extricate the other two occupants who were transported to Christiana Hospital.

Authorities closed the southbound lanes of I-95 for about an hour as they assisted the injured and cleaned up the accident site.
