Police Cruiser Crashes on I-95

Connecticut (February 12, 2012)  A Police officer and a woman were injured in a two vehicle crash on I-95 south in Fairfield.  The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Exit 22-Round Hill Road, according to the Connecticut State Police.

Sergeant Edward Weihe, 36, of the Fairfield Police department was responding to a domestic call when he lost control of his cruiser on I-95 south and crashed into the center concrete barrier.  Florence Opoku, 38, driving a Hyundai Elentra was also traveling south on I-95 and lost control of her vehicle, striking the concrete barrier.

Both drivers were injured and taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

The Connecticut State Police are still investigating the accident.
