Reckless Driver Leads Troopers On A High Speed Chase

North Carolina (July 3, 2011)  A Georgia man led North Carolina Highway Patrol on a high speed chase after he allegedly struck cars in several counties on Interstate 95 north.  According to North Carolina Highway Patrol, troopers received reports of a minivan driving recklessly.  Steven Carter was driving a 2001 Toyota Sienna, when North Carolina Highway Patrol attempted to pull him over near Exit 97 /US 70 in Johnston County he fled.  Carter reached speeds of 100 mph before troopers were able to deploy stop sticks around mile marker 135.  With two flat tires Carter tried exiting I-95 at Exit 138 /U.S. 64, where he jumped from the vehicle but was quickly apprehended by Troopers.  Carter has been charged with numerous counts including reckless driving and driving while intoxicated.
