24 year-old woman killed in Rollover Accident on I-95 south

Massachusetts (December 27, 2011)  A serious rollover accident on I-95 has closed the southbound lanes near Exit 9 in Sharon.  Massachusetts State Police and rescue crews are on the scene. 

Update: Massachusetts State Police responded to a rollover accident at 1:56 p.m. one mile north of Exit 9 on I-95 south. According to State Police 24 year-old Alison E. Irving was driving a 2009 Ford Focus south on Interstate 95 in the far left hand lane when she lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle drifted off of the left side of the roadway and Irving over corrected causing the Ford to go into a spin. The vehicle traveled across the three lanes of I-95 plowing into the right shoulder metal guardrail, causing the vehicle to roll over, finally coming to rest on its roof in the center lane of roadway.

25 year-old Andrew A. Costello was ejected from the vehicle landing near the trees on the right side of I-95. Costello was seriously injured and air lifted to to Rhode Island Hospital. Ms. Irving was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic quickly backed up for over 7 miles as Authorities closed down I-95 to assist the injured and clean up the wreckage. All southbound lanes were re-opened at 4:15 p.m.

The Massachusetts State Police are still investigating the fatal accident.

    Got caught up in this today. People were frantically cutting eachother off to get off the exit behind the crash. Emergency was having a tough time getting through the traffic. It was ridiculous. Sad.

  2. I was late to work because the accident, but it’s ok
    But my concern that this state have bad driver
    Some of the cut somebody from the third line, drive 30 mph in fast line, n talk while driving ( a lot)
    Remember when u in steerwhele, not only Ur live but somebody else too

  4. I remember being stuck for a long time coming home on Tuesday and being really aggrivated with the traffic, then when I got home I found out it was because someone was killed and felt horrible. My thoughts are with the family.
