State Trooper Injured in rear-end crash

Massachusetts (November17,2011)  An accident occurred late Thursday night injuring a Massachusetts State Trooper near exit 15 in the Southbound lane of Route 128 ,north of Interstate 95 in Middlesex County.  According to police spokesman David Procopio, the trooper’s cruiser was clipped in the rear by a Mazda while escorting a construction crane to a job site.  The Mazda was trying to pass the crane possibly to make an exit.

The State Trooper was taken to Milton Hospital with “potentially serious” injuries but was released early this morning.  The driver of the Mazda was taken to Norwood Hospital to be checked out.

An investigation is underway to determine if charges will be filed against the driver of the Mazda. Unfortunately this is one of many accidents in 2011 resulting in injuries to State Troopers.
