Teen Killed and Two Injured on I-95

Delaware (January 14, 2012)  A teenage girl was killed and two others injured in a crash on I-95 north in Newport.  The crash occurred just after midnight in the northbound lanes at the ramp for Exit 5, according to the Delaware State Police.

Anna Maria Silva, 19, was driving a 1995 Subaru Legacy with two passengers north on Interstate 95 when the vehicle drifted off of the right side of the roadway and struck a concrete wall.  The Subaru then veered back across the northbound lanes and slammed head-on into the center concrete barrier.

Silvia was killed in the crash.  Her two passengers, Edward Wanamaker, 19 and Tylisha Webster, 19, sustained injuries and were transported to Christiana Hospital.  According to the police report none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Authorities were force to close I-95 north for about two hours as they investigated the fatal collision.

The Delaware State Police are still investigating the accident.
