New York (January 1, 2012) A teen was killed and another was critically injured in a crashed on the ramp to I-95 north in Port Chester. The fatal accident occurred around 9:10 p.m. when the vehicle struck a tree on New Years Day according to the New York State Police.
Margaret Radford, 17, of Croton-on-Hudson, was driving a convertible 1999 BMW 328i east on I-287 with a passenger, Celia Sprouser, 16, of Stamford, Connecticut. Radford lost control of the BMW on the curve of the wet roadway and went into a spin. The BMW left the roadway on the ramp to I-95 and slammed into a tree on the driver’s side.
Rescue crews had to use the jaws of life to extricate both young woman from the wreck.
Tragically, Margaret Radford was pronounced dead at the scene. Celia Sprouser sustained serious head injuries and was transported to Greenwich Hospital. She is critical but stable condition.
New York State Police are investigating the fatal accident, speed may have played a factor in the accident.
