Teenage Killed when Ejected for Vehicle on I-95

Georgia (January 5, 2012)  A mother and two daughters from Hilton Head Island were involved in a tragic accident on I-95 south in McIntosh County.  The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 at mile marker 59, according to the Georgia State Patrol.Karla Castro-Salazar, 34, was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition with five passengers when the left rear tire blew out causing Castro-Salazar to lose control of the vehicle.  The vehicle rolled over several times, coming to rest on the shoulder of I-95.

Estefany Arce-Castro, 18, was ejected in the crash, with the vehicle landing on her.  Arce-Castro was pronounced dead at the accident site.  She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Her mother, Castro-Salazar and a young girl sustained minor injuries and medical attention at the accident site.

Yariela Arce-Castro, 19, was injured and transported to Memorial University Medical Center.  Two adults in the vehicle also sustained injuries and were transported to the Hospital.

Authorities closed the southbound lanes of I-95 as they investigated the accident scene and attended to the injured.
