Teenager injured in crash

Virginia (August 9,2011)- According to Virginia State Police a two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 12:30p.m. injuring a Petersburg teenager.

The crash occurred on northbound Interstate 95, at the 53 mile marker at Colonial Heights.

Virginia State Police state that a 2009 Mazda 6, driven by a 17-year-old female from Petersburg was traveling in the left lane and slowed down for traffic. A 2004 Freightliner, driven by Charles W. Testerman Jr., 36 of Hagerstown, Md. , was traveling too close behind the Mazda and struck it from behind.

The driver of the Mazda suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Chippenham Medical Center.

Testerman Jr., was not injured in the crash, and was wearing his safety belt at the time of impact. He was charged by police with following too close.

Due to the accident, the left lane was closed for approximately 30 minutes and there was about a one mile back up.
