Teenager killed on I-95

Connecticut (July 31, 2011)  According to the Connecticut State Police a vehicle became wedged under the rear of a tractor-trailer on I-95 south.  The accident happened around 10:15 a.m. when a 1994 Toyota Corolla, driven by 19 year old Alexis Michaelson, slammed into the back of the tractor-trailer near Exit 36 in Milford.

The front of the 1994 Toyota Corolla was demolished, trapping Alexis Michaelson. The Milford Fire Department had to extricate Michaelson from the wreckage.  She was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with serious head injuries.
Alexis Michaelson was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital.

Traffic was congested in the area in both directions.  One southbound lane of I-95 was shut down for about an hour during the rescue.

State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

A memorial service has been set for Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk.
