Three Tractor-trailers Collide on I-95 North

Georgia (November 23, 2011)  Three tractor-trailers crashed on I-95 north, closing all northbound lanes in Kingsland.  The accident happened at 5:30 a.m. near Exit 3-Route 40 when a tractor-trailer jackknifed, partially blocking the northbound lanes.

A second tractor-trailer was unable to avoid the jackknifed tractor-trailer and crashed.  A third tractor-trailer collided with the first two tractor-trailers.

Two of the tractor-trailers came to rest off of the right shoulder. The second tractor-trailer that crashed suffered extensive damage.  Debris littered all three northbound lanes.

One driver was injured and transported to Camden County Medical Center.

Authorities were forced to close all northbound lanes for two-and-a-half hours as they worked the accident site.  One lane of was re-opened around 8 a.m. All lanes should be re-opened before noon.

Police are trying to determine what caused the first tractor-trailer to jackknife.
