Tour Bus Driver dies after crash with Semi on I-95

New Jersey (August 24,2011) According to New Jersey State Police a tour bus traveling from Brooklyn, New York, to Washington D.C. crashed with a tractor-trailer around noon today.  The accident occurred at 11:54 a.m. on I-95/New Jersey Turnpike (Southbound) in Monroe Township near Exit 8A.

According to Thomas Feeney, a spokesman for the NJ Turnpike Authority, the accident was apparently caused after a tractor-trailer, owned by J.B. Hunt Tractor Trailers, rear-ended another truck which had slowed down due to heavy to heavy traffic in the southbound direction.

A DC Trails bus, driven by Andy Lynch, then rear-ended the Semi, causing it to jackknife.

Lynch of Chesapeake, Va., was air lifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and is in critical condition.  One passenger, age 22 is also in critical condition.  According to New Jersey State Police, a total of 19 were injured in the crash.  The driver of the semi was not injured.

The State Police are investigating the accident.

Update:  Authorities have reported the bus driver, Andy Lynch, 52 died as a result of his injuries.
