Tractor-trailer accident creates traffic jam

New Hampshire (August 5, 2011)  According to the New Hampshire State Police a tractor-trailer crashed on Interstate 95 in the southbound lanes tearing up a large portion of the guardrail near the Hampton tolls.  The accident occurred just before 1 p.m. when the driver of the tractor-trailer apparently suffered a medical issue. 

The tractor-trailer drifted off of the left side of Interstate 95, plowing into the guardrail.  The impact ripped the front suspension out of the truck, the unidentified driver was taken to Exeter Hospital.

Significant traffic delays were experienced on I-95 south as the left lane was closed.  The wreckage was cleared by about 3 p.m. but The Department of Transportation remained on site working to replace the large section of guardrail that had been destroyed.  All lanes were reopened around 7 p.m. after the guardrail had been replaced.

The New Hampshire State Police is investigating the accident and ask if anyone witnessed the incident or has information to pleas call Troop A at 223-8490
