Tractor Trailer Collides State Police Vehicle on I-95

Virginia (May 30, 2011) According to the Virginia State Police, a trooper running Light Detection And Ranging (LIDAR) in Chesterfield County was struck by a tractor trailer as the officer pursued a speeding vehicle.

The Trooper’s vehicle was in pursuit of a vehicle with lights flashing when the tractor-trailer driver, Thomas Rorie Jr. attempted to change lanes, striking the police vehicle. The driver of the tractor trailer had no idea he had struck the police vehicle and was pulled over 3 miles down on I-95. No serious injuries were reported.
