Tractor-trailer Crash Causes Traffic Jam on I-95

Connecticut (October 19, 2011)  A tractor-trailer crashed on I-95 on the Rhode Island – Connecticut border causing major delays for hours.  The tractor-trailer, driven by Ronald Lemoi was traveling south on I-95 in Rhode Island near Exit 1 when he lost control of the big rig on the wet roadway.

The tractor-trailer went off the left side of Interstate 95 and ripped through the southbound metal guardrail. The tractor-trailer continued across the center median onto I-95 north, before it was finally stopped by the northbound guardrail.

Ronald J. Lemoi was injured in the wreck and transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

The collision caused the truck to leak diesel fuel and fluids onto the northbound lanes of I-95 forcing authorities to close several northbound lanes.  Traffic was backed up for hours on I-95 north as crews worked to clean up the spill and repair the damaged guardrails.

Police have issued traffic citations to Ronald Lemoi.
