Tractor-trailer Fire on I-95

Florida (October 12, 2011)  A tractor-trailer caught on fire on I-95 near Exit 298.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol the moving truck was traveling north on I-95 around 6:30 p.m. when the driver was alerted the trailer was on fire. 

The truck driver, Ean Manning pulled the trailer to the shoulder of the road.  When the driver opened the rear cargo doors Manning discovered the contents was fully engulfed in flames.  Manning unable to contain the fire using his fire extinguisher and quickly unhooked the cab and moved it a safe distance from the fire..

The fire department responded and was able to quickly extinguish the blaze.

Authorities briefly closed all northbound lanes of I-95 while crews extinguished the fire.  Police were able to open one northbound lane as crews worked to clean up the debris causing traffic to back up.  By 10 p.m. all lanes of I-95 were re-opened.

Ean Manning sustained minor burns in the accident, his passenger Marvin Reese was not injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol and Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
