Delaware (October 25, 2011) A tractor-trailer overturned on the exit ramp from I-95 south to Route 896 around 3 p.m. According to the Delaware State Police the driver, Theo Winters was attempting to navigate the turn when the load shifted, and the tractor-trailer overturned. The tractor-trailer landed on the driver’s side causing the load of steel coils to spill on the roadway.
Theo Winters sustained minor injuries but refused treatment.
State Police had to close the southbound ramp from I-95 and only one lane of 896 was open in each direction. It took crews several hours to clean up the large rolls of steel from the roadway. All lanes were re-opened around 6 p.m.
